Moose Safari

Just outside Lillehammer, we head out into the bright northern summer night in a wide open landscape about 1000 m above sea level, to search for the moose - “elgen,” the king of the forest. Good chance to meet the moose.

Maybe a powerful bull appears, maybe last year’s twins, or a cow with her tiny calves. We keep a respectful distance, allowing you to observe and photograph these majestic animals in peace while learning about their behavior and role in the local ecosystem.

A calm, authentic nature experience you won’t forget together with local guides with solid knowledge based over 11 years.

About our moose safari

  • Duration

    Evening tour until its dark, approx. 4 hours.

    As the sunset time will vary throughout the season, this will affect the starting time. Example mid summer, starting 2000 hours.

  • Degree of difficulty

    Accessible for all, easy tour. Spotting from small roads and doing very short walks up 200m. Sitting in our car or driving after us, good roads.

  • Booking

    Booking until 12:00 the day before by phone + 47 416 776 72 or by discovernaturenorway@gmail.com. We recommend you to book very long time in front.

  • Price

    Group tour, small group up to 8 perons:

    850 NOK for grown ups, half price for the age between 7 and 16, under 7 years old for free.

    Private tour, 2 persons, 2400 nok. Dedicated guiding and visiting the best localities.

  • What to bring

    Remember to bring warm clothes and windbreaker.

    Bring camera and eventually binoculars. We have binoculars and telescopes.

    Guiding in Norwegian, German, English and Deutch.

    Coffee / tea is served during the tour.

    Primo May – 15th of Sept.

  • Meeting point and pick up

    Meeting point at: Petrol station Circle K, Kongsvegen 299, Øyer, just by E6, leaving E6 by number 86 Tingberg, 20 km north of Lillehammer centre. During September; village Follebu, along road 255.

    Pick-up service along the route Segalstad bru - Lillehammer – Øyer for a fee of 200 NOK.

Cabin life and safari

You can combine the safari with overnight stay for two persons in our cabin 950 meter above sea level in a beautiful area.

Recommended activities there are hiking in the forests or in the mountains, fishing, biking or just relaxing!
